The Gas Act provides for regulations to be made for the purpose of 'providing for the establishment and operation of wholesale markets for gas, including for (i) protocols and standards for reconciling and balancing gas; and (ii) clearing, setting, and reconciling market transactions'.
An industry group was established in 2013 to progress the recommendations of a Panel of Expert Advisers (PEA) in respect of the Gas Transmission Investment Programme (GTIP).
The purpose of this consultation paper was to present Gas Industry Co's assessment of a macro review of the specification for reticulated natural gas in New Zealand (NZS 5442:1999).
We are working to understand the industry processes and frameworks needed to support the introduction of ‘green gases,’ including hydrogen and biofuels.

Gas Industry Co reviewed the Gas Governance (Compliance) Regulations 2008 (Compliance Regulations), and proposed a number of changes. This is consistent with our practice to periodically review industry governance arrangements to ensure they remain efficient and effective.
