The Gas Transition Plan
The Gas Transition Plan will be a key input into a broader Energy Strategy, showing how emissions from gas can be reduced in line with targets in emissions budgets, in legislation, and in New Zealand's international commitments.

Gas Industry Co has worked with industry to develop a range of voluntary schemes, information exchange protocols and guidelines, to help make legislation and requirements clear, promote efficiency and enhance consumer outcomes.

This application form relates to those consumers who seek to have their designation continue for a further two years.  Designations can provide a measure of priority to gas consumers who satisfy certain criteria.

The Consumer Care Guidelines were developed in 2022 to assist medically dependent and vulnerable gas consumers and to align the gas industry's processes with the electricity industry's Consumer Care Guidelines.  They apply to natural gas and LPG retailers.

In September, we consulted on a revised set of gas Consumer Care Guidelines. The proposed guidelines will ensure close alignment with the mandatory electricity Consumer Care Obligations in the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010.
