The ability to store gas contributes to a more flexible and resilient gas supply system.
It has been a decade since New Zealand’s single gas storage facility, the Ahuroa Gas Storage Facility, was commissioned. The facility is owned by Flex Gas, a subsidiary of First Gas. Designed to supply major users during times of peak demand, the facility stores up to 18PJs of gas and can inject and withdraw up to 65 TJ per day.
