Gas Metering Review: Review of advanced metering technology. We received eight submissions which are available below, along with our analysis and summary of submissions.
Our Advanced Gas Metering – Issues Assessment paper (published 24 September 2021) set out a preliminary list of potential issues on the deployment of advanced metering technology into the gas market.
Following Gas Industry Co discussions with industry and wider energy sector participants to understand their perspectives on information disclosure in the gas sector, measures were put in place to improve the information available to all stakeholders.
Interconnections involve facilities for injecting gas into, or extracting gas from, the transmission pipelines.
Gas Industry Co was established in 2004 to perform the role of the ‘industry body’ as set out in Part 4A of the Gas Act 1992 (Act).
On 20 April 2016 Vector Gas Limited – owner of the Vector transmission system – was acquired by First State Funds, two infrastructure funds managed by First State Investments, known in Australia as Colonial First State Global Asset Management. Vector Gas Limited was renamed First Gas Limited (First Gas).
On 14 July 2017, Gas Industry Co received a request from First Gas Limited (First Gas) to make changes to the Maui Pipeline Operating Code (MPOC). The changes aim to facilitate transition to a new gas transmission access code (GTAC) when certain conditions are met.
This Work Programme contains advice on the February 2010 request from the Minister on the suitability of applying Gas Industry Co's Guidelines on Interconnection with Transmission Pipelines to Private Transmission Pipelines.
Since the introduction of the Retail Gas Contracts Oversight Scheme (Scheme), six assessments have been conducted: a baseline assessment in 2010, a 'transitional' assessment in 2011, and full assessments in 2012, 2015, 2018 and 2023.
