Gas Industry Co has initiated the development of detailed arrangements relating to the Authorised Quantity (AQ) provisions of the Maui Pipeline Operating Code (MPOC). This addresses one part of the capacity allocation and congestion management issues covered by Gas Industry Co’s Gas Transmission Investment Programme (GTIP).

Transmission Pipeline Balancing has been an important area of work for Gas Industry Co. Recent correspondence between Gas Industry Co and the Associate Minister of Energy and Resources marks a significant step, bringing this phase of the workstream to a close. This correspondence is available below.
On 28 April 2015 Gas Industry Company issued its Final Recommendation on 10 October 2014 MPOC Market Based Balancing (MBB) Change Request. MBB will be introduced on 1 October 2015 and allows for the daily cash-out of parties with imbalance position outside of the allowed tolerance.
Following consideration of submissions on the CRN, the next step of the new VTC amendment process is the issuing of a Draft Change Request. As with the CRN, GIC or any other stakeholders may make a submission on a VTC Draft Change Request.
On 6 May 2013, Contact Energy Limited (Contact) submitted a Vector Transmission Code (VTC) Change Request proposing that change requests must relate only to a single issue or related series of issues. The Change Request was supported by all shippers except one who abstained from responding.
