This application relates specifically to Critical Processing designations.

Designations can provide a measure of priority to gas consumers who satisfy certain criteria.

Those applying for this designation must be installations where either of the following processes is performed:

A commercial or industrial process that fits the following criteria:

  • the process is underway; and
  • the process can be shut down in less than 18 hours; and
  • an immediate shutdown would require
    • disposal of dangerous or toxic chemicals; or
    • extensive operations before the plant could resume operation

A process that requires gas for a defined period in order to:

  • avoid serious damage to plant; or
  • mitigate serious environmental damage; or
  • prevent inhumane or cruel treatment of animals already at an abattoir; and
  • has a shutdown profile consistent with the regulations.

As stated in Regulation 46(H)(1) of the CCM Regulations, we must appoint a technical expert to help assess an application for a critical processing designation, and as stated in Regulation 46(H)(7), the applicant must pay us the costs of the technical expert in preparing the report.

1. Applicant Information

This number appears on your gas bill. It is a 15 digit identifier (and will contain both numbers and letters). On customer invoices there may be spaces or dashes. Please do not enter these spaces or dashes.
Please select your gas retailer. In the case of large end consumers select your Transmission System Owner.
This should be the name that your gas bill is addressed to.

The Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC) 2006 is used to compile and analyse industry statistics in New Zealand and Australia. Please following the link at the top of this form and select the 7 digit code that corresponds

3. Gas Usage at the Installation

Please provide details regarding the purposes/reasons for gas use at the consumer installation.
Detailed information around usage, for example daily averages and daily peaks, as well as patterns of usage, for example day vs night; weekday vs weekend; and seasonal variation will aid Gas Industry Co in making a determination.
For each of the services/purposes mentioned above please specify the gas used both annually and daily.
