This application relates specifically to Critical Processing designations
Designations can provide a measure of priority to gas consumers who satisfy certain criteria.
Those applying for this designation must be installations where either of the following processes is performed:
A commercial or industrial process that fits the following criteria:
- the process is underway; and
- the process can be shut down in less than 18 hours; and
- an immediate shutdown would require
- disposal of dangerous or toxic chemicals; or
- extensive operations before the plant could resume operation
A process that requires gas for a defined period in order to:
- avoid serious damage to plant; or
- mitigate serious environmental damage; or
- prevent inhumane or cruel treatment of animals already at an abattoir; and
- has a shutdown profile consistent with the regulations
As stated in Regulation 46(H)(1) of the CCM Regulations, Gas Industry Co must appoint a technical expert to assist in assessing an application for a critical processing designation; and in Regulation 46(H)(7) …The applicant must pay Gas Industry the costs of the technical expert in preparing the report.
