Vector Gas Limited performed the role of the Critical Contingency Operator (CCO) from November 2008 to November 2013, when its first five-year term as CCO ended. After a competitive tender process, Gas Industry Co selected New Plymouth-based Core Group as the new CCO from March 2014 - 2022.
This is in line with regulation 6 which requires Gas Industry Co to appoint the person that is the system operator of all of the transmission system as the CCO for an initial term of 5 years. Regulation 8 of the Contingency Management Regulations requires that Gas Industry Co publish the CCO service provider agreement.
