Gas Industry Co is the industry body that works alongside industry and government to coregulate New Zealand’s gas. We oversee gas governance, facilitate gas markets, and provide trusted advice through the energy transition.
Our work is designed to fulfil our statutory role through efficient governance arrangements, progress new or ongoing projects that are important to the industry and other stakeholders, and facilitate forward-looking discussion on future strategic issues.
We collect information about the gas industry and display it our website as a helpful resource for both industry and consumers.
As the industry body and co-regulator, Gas Industry Co does not provide natural gas or associated services. However we like to help ensure that consumers are informed about the use of natural gas and who they can deal with for their natural gas needs.
The Gas (Levy of Industry Participants) Regulations 2024 came into force on 1 July 2024.
All information about the current levy including the consultation, submissions, and the recommendation to the Minister of Energy can be found below.
